The Oaks Neighborhood Tour

The Oaks is a beautiful wooded neighborhood that was originally developed in the 1970s. With wide streets and relatively flat, large lots, the neighborhood is perfect for walking, biking and jogging. It is a quiet, luxury home neighborhood with homes ranging in price from $485,000 to $1,657,500 in 2016.  In recent years the smaller homes have been extensively remodeled and added on to, or in some cases completely torn down and replaced with larger homes.

At the heart of The Oaks is Chapel Hill’s only private golf course and country club, the Chapel Hill Country Club. Chartered in 1922, the golf course was originally designed by architect Gene Hamm and was re-designed by architect John LaFoy in 1999. Many homes are located on lots overlooking the course, while others are nestled on quiet cul-de-sac streets that wrap around the course. There is a very active tennis league and swimming team, providing a great way to meet new neighbors and get outdoors.

Located off Hwy 54 as it enters Chapel Hill, most of the neighborhood is located within Chapel Hill City limits. A small portion of the neighborhood is in Durham County, and those houses are in the Durham school district. The Oaks is very convenient to Research Triangle Park, The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and UNC Hospital, and Duke University. Southpoint Mall is approximately ten minutes away, and RDU Airport is approximately twenty minutes away. The Oaks is ideally located in The Triangle, which is anchored by Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and Durham, brings many cultural activitiesto your doorstep. Having the University of North Carolina, Chapel hill, Duke University, NC Central University and NC State University within a half-hour drive affords residents of The Oaks amazing cultural opportunities, including:
